OBJECTIVES
The LANKA STAR AWARDS have been instituted by the Sri Lanka Institute of Packaging and the Packaging Development Centre and are aimed at stimulating interest in improving packaging standards in Sri Lanka .
Entries for LANKA STAR will be judged for their all round fitness, the purpose for which they have been designed, and special features which may make them worthy of the accolade for packaging in Sri Lanka . Success in securing a LANKA STAR AWARD qualifies the recipient, upon settlement of the appropriate fee to participate in ASIA STAR and WORLD STAR contests.
ENTRY CLASSIFICATION
There are three classes of entries to LANKA STAR
Transport Containers – such containers must be for the transportation of a product or for containing a number of consumer packs to be transported and distributed. Container volume must not exceed 50 cu.ft (1.415 cu.m)
Consumer Containers – Such containers are for containing and sale of consumer products.
Packaging materials and adjuncts – New types of packaging materials developed or packaging material manufactured for the first time in Sri Lanka that could be converted either to a consumer or transport container.
Conditions of entry
ELIGIBILITY
All sample entries should have been manufactured in Sri Lanka .
ENTRY FEE
SLIP Members - Rs. 7,500.00 for first entry and Rs. 2,500/- for each additional entry
NON MEMBERS - Rs. 8,500.00 for first entry and Rs. 2,500/- for each additional entry
Cheques must be written in favour of the SRI LANKA INSTITUTE OF PACKAGING
ENTRY DATE
All entries for LANKA STAR 2007 must be registered with the SRI LANKA INSTITUTE OF PACKAGING by 20 th August 2007
ENTRY STATEMENT (in English)
A brief description (not in point form) in English, of each entry should be submitted. It should consist of not more than 130 words and must include
The nature of the material from which the entry is constructed
The method of manufacture
Major market accesses (list names of countries, if any)
Reasons why the entry be given a special recognition at the LANKA STAR judging
Any other information considered relevant

For each entry
An entry form is to be completed in duplicate with the entry statement (see conditions of entry)
PLUS
One colour photograph and a CD of the entry (Only the product)
Entry Fee
Two samples of the entry package (without Product) or material

JUDGING
By a panel of judges of competence in Technical, visual and commercial aspects of packaging and other relevant disciplines.
